The problem of the teams...

@X-LORD_NecrodeR-X People create more teams because they want to the the team leader. Since not everyone can lead the big team, they try and create big teams of their own.
#10: inquisitive mind that I am, I decided to do a fact check on your claim, since I thought it odd that someone would need numerous teams of roughly 25 members.
I was originally going to list the teams that you own that do not qualify for this criteria, but my computer crashed when I had 14 tabs of lichess teams open.
What suprises me is not just the amount of teams - many inactive.
But the lack of sociability even if privately created teams.
Like sure chess is great but there's other things to talk about too ?
What explains it ?
Is everyone too busy playing chess ? Are chess players generally not that sociable ?
I can't remember ever seeing 1 non-chess related conversation.
Is this normal ? Just seems a bit strange - especially if say it's a group of friends.

Also why do people try to create big teams ?
Is it to be a leader, for team competition sake or are there potential perks ?
And how come some clubs have their own private forums away from lichess ?

Still trying to figure it all out - any feedback appreciated.
I don't see an issue. I need a team to create viewer tourneys and to participate in team battles.
been a bit of time now since i (led) a team in online chess , nice to take a break if truth be told ,
but making a team vibrant isnt hard , it just requires effort , so simple things like being sociable in group chat are helpful , being competetive as a team also helps so regular matches are a must ,
having your own unique ethos works well too as many seek to belong to something that shares their passion outside of chess
as well as in chess
done well you have a solid team that fights for each other whilst also being a place to enjoy each others company
are there too many teams ? yes , but many are inactive
i hope you find or found a group that you will play for to the best of your ability as thats all any team leader can ask of a teammate
I can't give up my team because it has 118 PLayers
a thing can be made lichess can make a feature through which if two team leaders the creators of the team only if they want they can merge their team give a new name and the members will increase andd it will become a single team this can reduce team while both creators will be main leaders
Thanks for the feedback sabatuma, so most sociability happens in team chat - I see !

"nice to take a break " - guess it must be a lot of hard work then.
"unique ethos works well" - that's what I was expecting (and some try to be) but not as many as I expected.
Guess some of these teams are like private clubs moved online.
I just expected more non-chess chit chat on team forums really but fair enough.
Yeah I've found a couple of good teams thanks - plenty of competitions to choose from !

Great as lichess is, I hope they tidy up inactive teams - tired of clicking on teams to see they've been inactive for a year.
Surely it can't be too difficult or to add some filter in.
nice to take a break , yeah admin is a task and if like me you adminned alot of teams ,,,well your chess suffers as you have to drop everything to deal with a team issue that has suddenly arisen ,,,mind you i dont have that excuse anymore and my bad chess is all my fault lol
