Counting wood - keeping track of multi-capture tactics

Hi all,

I have always struggled with keeping track of multi capture tactics.

This puzzle (lichess.org/training/63874) triggered the following idea for me:

If I take a piece - add piece value
If my opponent takes a piece - subtract piece value

Piece values: Q=9 R=5 B=3 N=3 P=1

In the puzzle this gives the following sequence:

+3 / 0 / +3 / -6 / +3 / 0 / +5 / +2 / +5 / +2

What do you guys & gals think? Do you use this yourself? Would you use this yourselves?

Enjoy, cheers,

Chris
Ways can always be found to make the "struggle", the uphill climb even steeper, to which you have successfully completed the task :-} Couldn't follow the #'s except maybe they are piece values?
The resulting position after exchanges needs evaluation, the count of the pieces captured may or may not be of matter.
I count, 1 guards, 2 attacks, move it or guard it, or forget about it.
Sometimes it may be simpler to evaluate what's left, rather than adding up what was exchanged.
GM Teske once recommended in his trainings: if there are numerous exchanges have to be count serially and mutually always start with the biggest pieces of wood. That's his approach to calculate different long "pacman-like-munching" lines.
Shouldn't it read "(start) with the smallest piece"? I am pretty sure that is how I do it ...
I like it. I try piece subtraction but your idea is much better.
