Creative Checkmate (MUST SEE!)

Check this study I have created, its actually based on a game I played half an hour ago, its not very creative but I like the fact of the light square diagonals, I think I am gonna start making studies since I forgot that feature and its quite useful.

Not really, depends on how you look at it.

I'd say no. Below is why.

First, 'checkmate' means taking of all the king's escape routes, and then attacking him - attacking every square he is on or can move to.

Smothered mate is when the escape squares are all covered by friends, not enemies.

Queen-Sits-on-King is a mate when the queen and the edge of the board simply take away all the squares the king can move to, and a piece protects the queen.

Back Rank Mate refers to the mate occurring when a major piece attacks a rank the king is on, the front is blocked by friends, and the back blocked by the edge of the board.

Rook Roller is where the friends blocking the front are replaced with a rook.

Two Bishops Mate is like Rook Roller except on the diagonals - it doesn't matter much, both work on the same principles.

There are many other mates, of course, but these basic ones show how all of these mates work on the same principles, taking all escape routes and attacking the king by either using all pieces, enemy pieces, and/or the edge.

I believe that it is closed to smothered, but not really.

Hope this helps!
