poor losers

I know I was only a casual game, but why do so many people leave the game when they are in a losing position instead of resigning? Do they have a need to punish the person who out played them by making them sit and wait for the system to time out? This seems to be the norm on this site. I would not be that inconsiderate. There is no shame in resigning when you know you have been beaten fairly.
You can also block them, so you'll not be matched against them again. I think that's how it works. There are plenty of quality worthwhile and amazing people in chess, why focus on meanies?!
@ken1g I share your reaction to that behavior. It's juvenile and primal. But there is nothing you can do about that person. You can't punish them, can't change them, they are just made of poor protoplasm.
The big issue is: don't let it affect you. Here's my idea. Once I see what is happening, I just sit back in my chair and start celebrating my win, plus thinking about that pitiful person on the other end. Glad I am not him. Let that entire two minutes running down be a relaxing victory celebration.
You deserve a break. Enjoy it.
