War veteran gave his purple heart to Trump today for taking a bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania

Far-right? LOL.

I support reasonable abortion rights, gay marriage, feminism and say nice things about Jimmy Carter. I think Bill Clinton was among America's more effective presidents. I utterly abhor racism and have helped at naturalization ceremonies at which immigrants are made into citizens.

But you must tell yourself that I am somehow "far-right" because I refuse to believe that Trump is a "Russian asset"?

Ha ha ha. That is a ludicrous notion, given that it was TRUMP who opposed the vast Russian pipeline -- something you don't even try to address, @awkward-aardvark.

You apparently didn't see on the news -- it's still on video and can be found -- I just found it yet again -- who Vladimir Putin claimed to support recently. Hint: it wasn't Trump.

And I've got news for you -- claiming that somebody "supports" a candidate doesn't REMOTELY work the other way. If a murderer supports a Democrat does that mean the Democrat supports murderers?

Not remotely. That would be utterly flawed logic.

Did Russia do better under Trump or under Biden? I'll let the readers -- both of them? -- decide.

Have a nice day.

I believe you on your word.

Lol. A public declaration of support of Putin for any US politician is the equivalent of shooting them at short range -- and he knows that perfectly well. But we also know who Putin's intelligence service and troll farms actively supported. And there is a reason why Putin would decide to spend considerable resources to boost Trump's campaign. Hint: Putin's self-interest does not coincide with the US best interests.
> Did Russia do better under Trump or under Biden? I'll let the crowd decide.
Let the crowd not forget that Russia's economy is crumbling down. Nor that Trump has pledged to stop supporting Ukraine.
@awkward-aardvark, where on Earth did you get the notion that Trump has "pledged" to "stop supporting" Ukraine?

"Pledged" to whom? When?

Can you provide a sourced, actual quotation in context?

Or is this more of the same internet fog.

I believe Trump met with Zelensky about 10 days ago in Trump Tower. Do you know that? Or is it obscured by the fog.

I believe you can find news of the meeting (like I just did) pretty easily.

What Trump wants to do is stop the war -- the SAME war that DID NOT take place during HIS administration. That's not remotely the same thing as "pledging" to "stop supporting" anybody.

Putin waited until AFTER Trump left office before invading Ukraine. Russia invaded during the BIDEN / HARRIS administration. Likewise, Israel was brutally attacked AFTER Trump left office. And Israel has few bigger supporters than Trump.

Have you really thought about any of that?

I'd rather just stay silent about politics. But it's hard to stay silent in the face of some posts that I really feel need to be corrected. I hope that I can go back to not writing anything political and just play chess. We'll see, I guess.

Well that's a problem, considering that Israel is engaged in a genocidein Gaza and illegal occupation of the West Bank, as recognised by an overwhelming majority at the UN, and that her prime minister is wanted by the ICC.

Let's not forget that 45th used presidential power to make a perfect quid pro quo. Borderline blackmailing a country that was soon to be invaded by putina.
I'm not going to sign in to "politico.eu" and hunt through an article trying to find a 'quotation" you didn't provide, @awkward-aardvark .

I asked if you could produce a "quotation" -- and I still see no quotation that talks about a "pledge" by Trump to "stop support."

And I'm pretty sure I'm not going to see the word "pledge" (as so uttered by Trump) quoted by you, or by anyone else, anytime soon.

You could prove me wrong, I suppose. But so far, this looks like I'm being furnished with an opinion piece from the European version of "politico" -- not a quotation showing Trump "pledging" to do something, which was the claim I doubted.

And, in any event, do you realize that the U.S. is already borrowing HUGE amounts of money, and that there's not an unlimited, eternal source of funds available? HUGE amounts are already required to deal with various crises afflicting the U.S., at least one of which was self-inflicted.

If you're a European, I suppose that might not trouble you at all. But America's citizens, at least some of them, can't help wondering just how much deeper into debt can the nation go? It's not something to be just brushed aside.

And @bfchessguy, so far as I can tell it wasn't Trump who received compensation from Ukrainian sources. Are you SURE you want to go there? lol.

Regardless, please stop and think. If Putin thought Trump was helpful, WHY IN THE WORLD would Russia WAIT to invade Ukraine until AFTER Trump (the supposedly "helpful" person) had already long stepped down from office and so -- couldn't help at all?

I won't hold my breath waiting for a pertinent response.

Stop and think yourself. If Putin did NOT think Trump was helpful, why in Earth would he have spend so much resources to influence the outcome of the 2016 US election?
> WHY IN THE WORLD would Russia WAIT to invade Ukraine until AFTER Trump (the supposedly "helpful" person) had already long stepped down from office and so -- couldn't help at all?
And why do you keep insisting Putin actually WAITED Trump stepped down? If so, as you highlight yourself, why would he have waited for so long?

I'll tell you the truth, the bare truth revealed by my good friend R who works at the DoD. Putin was waiting for Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger to step down. Check it out. The dates can't be just a calendar coincidence. Or maybe it was Déby from Chad. Can't remember for sure.
