OK, here's another joke, this time with accompanying notes as I know students like notes.
A Buddhist monk goes to a hotdog vendor and says "Make me one with everything".[1]
The hotdog vendor makes him a hotdog with everything: onion rings, jalopenos, the lot. He hands the monk his hotdog and the monk hands him a £50 note.[2] After a long awkward silence, the monk says "What about the change?"
"Change", says the hotdog vendor "comes from within."[3]
Notes
- In Buddhist tradition "all is one" and we should strive to be one with everything. The monk has found a humorous way of ordering his meal.
- £50 is about US $65.
- That change comes from within ourselves is part of the Buddhist world view. The hotdog vendor has found a humorous way to get one up on the Buddhist monk.
