Mathematical Reflection

I am not a mathematician.
Why is mathematics so prevalent in our contrust of reality?
Music theory, Astrophysics and Cosmology, Science,medicine, engineering and I could go on.
We don't create mathematics,we discover mathematics.
Why does it apply so much,is it underlying order?Why so?

just my opinion but, i think it's like asking why food is important, we didnt invent food, we discovered it.
