Thats bs all other chess sites have trolls.
@kokkko what happened to closing your account and playing anonymously?
lichess.org/forum/lichess-feedback/thank-you-lichess-creators-and-mods
maybe you should go back to doing that, keeping your account open does not seem to make you happy.

@glbert
that was strange, i closed!!! yes closed!!! my account and made a new one on the same e-mail address.... then i got a message from lichess, that i could reopen my closed account (which was on the same e-mail as the new account) .... i tried, and really it worked. But as i said, i wanted to stay in my new account.... and when i wanted to open that, i could not...
SO NOW i just don't bother ... i do not know whether lichess cannot or does not want to be "clean"...i do not care...
where i live it is difficult to play OTB... so as i said, i could not care less

#1 1) if a website makes you pay, there will far fewer trolls
#10 sorry, lichess is not free.
It is quite telling that you can't even agree with yourself. Of course, if it weren't free we might not be able to enjoy your company based on your posts?
P.S. If the "cheats" bother you that bad, why do play on lichess for free instead of joining one of the non-free chess sites?

But shouldn a free lichesst have less problems catching cheaters? I would assume non-free sites hate losing paying customers, and assuming cheaters are kids, probably their biggest customers.
@Subomega I guess it depends on which way you look at it.
A pay site would have more incentive and resources to hunt/find cheaters, but, being a pay site would have fewer cheaters to catch. Fewer cheaters makes it harder to catch them but use more resources hunting them.
Conversely, a free site would have fewer resources to hunt/find cheaters while having more cheaters by virtue of being a free site. More cheaters makes it easier to catch them but has fewer resources to hunt them.
Personally, I don't think the cheating issue is as bad as people try to make it out to be. I don't play a lot but watch a lot of games and just don't see that many that make me think "they must be cheating" that when I analyze with SF shows a cheating pattern to it.
Of course, I could be blind to it based on past experience. My first online chess game was on AOL through pogo.com when it was free to AOL Members and 90% of the people playing chess on there cheated. After that ratio of cheaters to honest people, I will always think the ratio on lichess is negligible.

Lichess is an amazing gift to the world, as is Linux and many things that are open source. We should be deeply grateful to the people who maintain and develop it. Thank you!

I'm happy to have wings next to my morphyms1817 to support lichess this month.
