Coronavirus

@Doodbro
Look, mate, I respect that you want to save the environment. Far be it from me to dispute the importance of the environment. And I respect the fact that you are passionate about it. But please take the following in the constructive manner it is intended:

There are other, far better ways to do your part for the environment than by attempting to prove economies are weak-- a claim which doesn't even make sense-- in an internet forum about the coronavirus on a chess website via an impressive array of logical fallacies. Your arguments against "the economy" lead me to believe that you genuinely do not understand what the word means. I don't know if its possible for me to debate economics with someone who doesn't understand the basic idea of an economy, especially if said individual utilizes a steady stream of non-sequiturs and what I assume are Queensryche lyrics as justification for his "claim."

Therefore, I would like to take the following measures:
a) Recommend that you establish somewhat of a groundwork in economic basics. Khan Academy probably has videos on it.
b) recommend you familiarize yourself with Kenneth Boulding's "The Economics of the Coming Spaceship Earth" as well as the works of Dr. Garret Hardin, as these both contain ideas for developing a sustainable economy.
c) Request that you stop trying to use "the economy" as a strawman.
d) request that you desist in the use of inflammatory comments.
e) Issue a second request to use this thread for its intended purpose.
@clousems

"... attempting to prove economies are weak-- a claim which doesn't even make sense ..."

It makes sense. You haven't sufficiently addressed the reasons I've given throughout this thread. Instead you respond with nonsense such as:

"Your arguments against "the economy" lead me to believe that you genuinely do not understand what the word means."

Your description of the economy sounds like it's out of a vanilla textbook.

"logical fallacies," "especially if said individual utilizes a steady stream of non-sequiturs and what I assume are Queensryche lyrics as justification for his "claim.""

Surely you could support the above ridiculous claims with evidence instead of creative writing.

Re:

a) I wish you would bring a substantative argument.

c) Surely you can show how I've supposedly done so.

d) What inflammatory comments? It's you that doesn't discuss/debate in an open and honest manner.
