Right now, things seem to be in a mess.
Too many people react with anger and hostility and mockery to a religion that teaches empathy and humility because they fear the religion might have something to say about irresponsible, selfish behavior that they just don't want to hear.
Too many people pride themselves on thinking that they truly understand reality, despite their tenuous grasp of the very math or science they think they champion; while, at the same time, the same people nod at and gingerly tiptoe around trendy foolishness with wary, eager respect.
Too many people ignore real issues while shouting about a "joy" that they don't really feel.
How did we get this way? Or perhaps I should say how did the West get this way?
If feels like confusion has been sown for some time now. Our best hope is that it's merely accidental and the result of ordinary foolishness.
As a final note, let me suggest that there are wiser things to worship than celebrity, fashion or "likes."
