What's wrong with it? Attaching a phone temporarily to a front of a bike seems helpful.

It might overheat your phone or drain your battery quicker than usual. Of course bike lights are cheap but cell phones aren't ( well good ones), but what happens if you do dump your bike? A wrecked bike and a broken phone. There are several bike lights under $20 for a headlight or spend a bit more and get a taillight also since they're both legally required.

The thing is, phone flashlights usually have very wide beans which make it unpleasant for other road users

Twenty dollars? Seems expensive to me. Legally required? Not in ours, I think.
Edit: Wait, is it legally required? (Time to sue people) Charging and removing your phone after use or taking care of the bike while using doesn't seem to be a problem though. Especially for stingy misers like me.
