Viruses are only molecules which persuade neighbouring molecules to become like them..they don't ever "go away".

This will be the new "normal" for a very long time. Get used to it!

I have a really good source that says 4 years. There's so much money and interest in solving the Corona Virus that 4 years is not only possible but "likely."

@obladie #9 -- Yeah, but if people hold their breath long enough, not only will they not get covid, and proceed to spread it everywhere asking the same redundant question, we also won't have to field inane or asinine questions like this from them. More mask, less cowbell.

Privately, I'm hoping that anyone and everyone who believes what the talking, orange raccoon teletubby says -- will hold their breath and all just eventually disappear. Less hot air means cooler climates, right?

For those familiar with the perils of perverse incentives, consider the incentives (in the US at least, probably in much of the rest of the world as well) that exist to push out a vaccine that is not properly tested.

1. Pharmaceutical companies in the US are shielded from lawsuits by those injured by vaccines (and yes, such people do exist), with compensation for such injuries paid out by government (i.e. taxpayers) instead.

2. The US CDC owns many patents (57 IIRC) on vaccines that make them massive amounts of money. I don't know how this money is distributed, but if salaries of CDC executives and employees are at all tied into this this is a motivator to downplay dangers. And above and beyond the direct salaries the US has a "revolving door" of regulators going back and forth between government and big business (and later working as lobbyists), which in and of itself is a massive incentive to downplay any dangers present with vaccines.
