What if we had a Lichess Titled + Patrons arena?

I think it would be a cool way to let amateurs play against titled players online. (With less risk of cheating)

Only a few times a year at most though.

There are no benefits for patrons, rule #1.

I feel like Patrons are less likely to cheat since they are a patron (since they gave credit card info and all) but okay

Well I never heard of a patron that cheated even at least once so far

@Sarg0n

Im just curious, why is that a rule?

It seems logical that one would want to provide some sort of 'bonus' for those who contribute; as both a incentive and just as a 'thank you'.

Maybe not anything as extreme as titled + patrons; but a patrons only arena or something seems like it could be beneficial.

I mean; of course you wouldnt want to give the patrons any sort of advantage over non patrons; nothing like 'pay to win'; which is what I would interpret from the 'no benefits' thing. Access to a special tournament wouldnt do that. It would just be a thanks from lichess sorta deal.

I know those who have patreons; like big youtubers and such; usually provide some sort of 'thank you' for those who contribute.

The YT PhillyD is a good example; who has live Q&As and sends some Tshirts or something to those who help on the Patreon.

Is there a reason this is a 'rule'? As I said above; just seems like it would benefit both Lichess and the Patrons.

Absolutely not. Patrons get a fancy icon, and our gratitude for helping to support the site.

We will not be creating premium features or arenas. It goes against the core lichess mission and tenants. Free as in free.

But if you wanted a tournament which required 500 hrs on the site or something I could see that... community is what makes lichess what it is.
