What does this new friends mean?

Friends are the people who you are following

I was just about to create a topic on this, I looked at my followers list but realised that it was Page 404 not found, so instead of "followers" in the URL I typed in "following" and that's how I saw the friends list. So instead of followers, we now have friends, cool!

we can follow each other in another way?

It is where you can see who you follow.

So does that mean the titled players I follow are my friends? xD

I stopped following lots of them because of that. Thanks lichess, for bringing so many updates lately:)

But you can't see others friend lists. If we try entering something like lichess.org/@/las08/following it will change the URL to lichess.org/@/SHAURYANILESH/following and show my friend list.(for me) If you click lichess.org/@/SHAURYANILESH/following it will show your list.
