Hi, everyone. Not sure if this was discussed before (my apologies if it was), but here goes...
I was just wondering if there is no real way Lichess can distinguish between a genuine disconnect (due to a poor connection) and someone purposefully leaving the game?
For example, if a person closes the game window or makes the game window not-in-focus (except in a simul), could that situation be detected and IMMEDIATELY be declared a loss? Imho, there is no reason to have the other player wait any number of seconds in this case, since their opponent purposefully left the game. I also think the penalty (temporary ban) in such a case should be immediate.
Perhaps some type of Javascript or jQuery can be used to detect that, or maybe there is another solution...
In any case, I sincerely believe this would greatly limit the cases where someone just takes off and runs down their clock.
Feedback or ideas anyone? Thanks.
