@CreativeThinking i think and hope so but nothing would surprise me here anymore.
@SteveEricJordan I feel guilty to be a part the forum games (by posting in them) that have existed in the forums. I want to appologize to lichess for that.
I'm sorry!
I'm sorry!
@CreativeThinking I, also, took that post as a joke, but it doesn't belong in this thread. On a thread which is clearly a game, this comment would be acceptable, but a "serious" thread like this or, even worse, a thread where a player is asking for help, these "funny" posts are harmful.
Being pretty new here I fail to judge about how it was here before.
Learned in another thread that everything used to be much better in the past. :<
It is not like I am going to disagree with you here, @SteveEricJordan - you brought up several good points.
For example, I have posted in the offtopic section only once because I got pinged in a random forum game and have not seen any discussion worth participating there so far.
To moderate means to invest time and effort into a volunteer work which is often not even appreciated.
Whatever you do, it is wrong and people who are not doing anything are always right and provide you with "helpful" advices how you should have done this or that better.
There was a suggestion to improve the quality by allowing people to post only after their reached a certain rating.
I dont see how "certain rating" will improve the quality and just think that if here are kids around who have their fun, we are not their parents to raise them up and to tell them how to behave here...

@Funkmaus
"if here are kids around who have their fun, we are not their parents to raise them up and to tell them how to behave here..."
I strongly disagree, that statement makes no sense at all. Since when are parents the only people on earth enforcing rules? The enforcement of rules isn't exclusive to parenting at all. That's like saying we don't need police because "We are not the parents of people misbehaving." Moderation is necessary in every online community.
Like every other forum this one is already moderated, i'm just asking for MORE moderation than there is right now because the wild west approach doesn't work out so far.

Just like picking up the trash of other people as a garbage collector is not a fun job. That doesn't change anything about the fact that it's necessary and has to be done.
I don't think there would be any shortage of competent people happily volunteering as community moderators.

Are you saying : "Naughty" boys cant challenge Magnus 180+ 180 games?
why is this forum like full of spam (so much words)
@King4612 why is the sea full of water?
words and in depth discussion are literally the whole concept of an internet forum.

Well, @SteveEricJordan - I dont see any kind of verbal abuse over here. People are acting friendly and polite.
So I think that this kind of offence (which for sure needs to be moderated!) neither exists OR is already filtered out somehow. By mods or by bots.
Your point is sort of the spam.
Team- and tournament advertisements. Stop people begging for followers.
Why not open another section where advertisements would be not only allowed, but welcome.
Would be actually great because several people have no other chance to announce simul, stream or offer chess lessons.

As a mod I can tell: there are worse forums (cc), yet there are better ones - e.g. the one where I am mod. :D
