@thibault @TotalNoob69
It's been over three days, and I still get the alert.
Have you guys looked into it yet?
I'm not sure if you are directly involved in the lichess app development, but any update on the matter would be nice, thanks!

Thibault is slightly involved. I am not.

I think you’re overreacting a bit, @CheesyCheeseChomper. The developers are obviously trying to phase out the old app and encourage users to switch to the new one.

That seems perfectly reasonable to me. Maintaining two separate apps indefinitely would probably require a lot of extra work and resources.

Lichess, why is the game replay by error function gone?

I've been wondering about that for quite some time now.

I'm not very active on forums and socials, so I'm not in the loop as to why they made a brand new app than improve on the classic one we all knew and loved. Was there like an official announcement made that explained why?

I totally agree with what you said about extra work and resources required in maintaining both, though the phasing out process could've been made smoother.

Anyway, If you could provide me a link to that announcement, that would be awesome!

Sorry, I don't know anything about an announcement.

My impression is that the old app had reached certain technical limits, so continuing development on a new foundation probably made more sense than endlessly patching the old one. But it's just my guess.

The original Lichess mobile app was written as a hobby project, and maintained on a voluntary basis --- but with the growth of Lichess over the last few years it requires more time and commitment than the volunteer community (amazing as it is) can provide alone.

We're pleased to announce that after one and a half years of full time development by our mobile developer @veloce and other contributors from our open-source community, we are releasing the new Lichess mobile app in public beta.

The old app has reached end of life and has been removed from the stores. Features have been breaking, maintaining backwards compatibility costs a lot of developer time and an outdated app is a security concern.
