Please end the Themed Tournaments

There are several of these per day, and they force players to play openings we often dislike or don't play. I think it's fine to have themed tournaments on special days (like Frankenstein opening on Halloween) but not several per day, interrupting the real chess tournaments.

Or, alternatively, offer them in a separate series of tourneys: themed bullet, blitz, classical, in a themed series.

Notice how often professional chess tournaments or amateur chess tournaments have a theme? Answer: never. Why does lichess insist on it?
If you don't like to be forced to play openings you don't like, then don't play in the thematic tournaments.....
#1 Poor guy, no one knew what happens to him in Lichess, but now his torment is finally to be revealed!

Lichess Moderator: Hey you, @cheapthought!
CT: Whaaat?
Lichess Moderator: Go play in one of those thematic tournaments!
CT: But I don't want to, I don't like them!
Lichess Moderator: If you don't play there I'll ban you.
CT: Okay okay I'm going!

(This is just a joke, don't take me wrong Lichess mods!)
This is like when someone here in the U.S. complains about politics and the answer is, "Well, move to Canada"
@cheapthought

It's not like that at all.

It's not feasible for most people to move to Canada. It takes time and effort when you move to a new country because your own is starting to stink: starting your life all over, finding a new job, a new place to live, a new school for your children.

This is like saying "I hate baseball, it's fine to watch it at special times, like at the world series, but it shouldn't be on several channels at once, and channels shouldn't broadcast several games a day, interrupting real sports."

Then having people tell you "If you don't like baseball, then don't watch it"
@cheapthought #6 -- This has nothing to do with politics or Canada. It has everything to do with personal attitudes and perceptions of things. People who don't like the current state of politics can take the same attitude toward chess tournaments they don't like: Ignore it.

Don't like politics? Ignore it. (No need to move to Canada; and this, too, shall pass.) Don't like thematic tournaments? Ignore it. (No need to complain about things you can't control and don't matter -- just don't play thematic tournaments.)

Don't like commentary telling you to ignore something you can't control? -- Feel free to move to Canada. (Also, feel free to complain in Canada, and be ignored, or ridiculed, and feel free to complain on other chess websites, and be ignored, or ridiculed ...)

Back to basics.
I agree with what others have commented, but I just want to add that you must feel incredibly entitled to suggest that thematic tournaments should be banned just because you, one out of hundreds of thousands of players on this site, does not like playing them. The fact is, there are probably still about 8 or 10 normal tournaments for every themed one, and you can also play in the lobby. It is ridiculous to suggest this, unless a great majority of players agree with you, which does not seem to be the case. Greetings, Sam
