no points for solving rated puzzle

Go to PUZZLES, rated. (So lichess, not you, selects the puzzle.) Spend some effort on it. Go do something else. Maybe put computer to sleep. Come back some hours later. Spend some more effort. Solve the puzzle correctly. Get 0 points.

It's incredibly disappointing. And it's happened several times to me now, lately.

Why does this happen? When it says "OFFLINE" you get no points even though you have reconnected. Lichess doesn't have a working mechanism for giving points in this scenario.

If you have solved the puzzle correctly and gotten puzzle rating points after solving it correctly, if you come back later for the second time it won’t give you the rating points you got the first time after solving the rated puzzle correctly.

That is true. But that is not what happened. I had not solved the puzzle before.

Are you sure? You've been solving puzzles since 2019. You remember them all??

I sometimes solve puzzles (+600 hardest) on my laptop, on a chessboard and many times the laptop goes to sleep. But when the puzzle is over I still get + / - rating points. Did not occur to me

When lichess chooses the puzzle (i.e., I didn't choose the puzzle), it happens every time "Lichess is offline" appears, and at no other time.

No one's doubting that Lichess, not you, chose the puzzle. Lichess can, however, choose puzzles you've previously done (especially if you grind a huge volume of puzzles), in which case you will not gain/lose rating upon completion.

I mean..

Do you believe that lichess chooses a puzzle you've had before, and then, if you solve the puzzle, lichess realizes the puzzle was one you had before, and doesn't give you points? Wouldn't lichess not give you that puzzle in the first place?

And if lichess does for some reason have that weird behavior, wouldn't it be an extraordinary coincidence that I get no points for puzzles when lichess says "Lichess is offline", and always get points when lichess does not say "Lichess is offline"?

You are overly obsessed with your rating. This is exactly why Lichess doesn't have a Puzzles leaderboard.
