New variant.

The big oddity in chess is that the game doesn't continue till the capture of the king. I guess they stopped doing this because it is rather pointless to make the last move when the other player cannot avoid this fate.

I suggest a new variant with a few rule changes:
1. The play goes on to the capture of the king which wins the game.
2. The king is allowed to move into check.

Moving your king into check is, of course, a tactical mistake as your opponent would capture it and win the game.

Either one of:
3a. Castling is not allowed. (I prefer this one)
3b. If a king moves through a check when castling the opposing player have a sort of en passant move that captures the king and wins the game.

Repeating the position, 50 and 75 move rules are a draw as usual.

That's all the rule changes I. If something is unclear I will try to clarify it when I return to this thread. Opening, middlegame and endgame play should stay the same so your chess skills wouldn't be less than they are now.

There is a fun desperado move in this variant, you move your king close to the other one and if your opponent doesn't capture your king you can capture his and win the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if this comes closer to the original idea of chess than the current rules.

This is just a variant, no worse or better than other. Easy to implement too, as the rule changes are easy. Maybe some of you would like to play a brutal chess variant with few draws.

Lichess is not planning to add new variants, this has been brought up a millon times
Also if you think about it, all stalemate position will be winning for stalemating side and lost for stalemated side
Yes, stalemate would be as you say. I am very well aware of that, I thought of it and it is one of the reasons I suggested this variant.
