Lost on time while the opponent's clock was running.

I lost on time while my opponent's clock was ticking. My opponent had requested a takeback, which I accepted, after which it was his turn to move. However, his clock kept running and finally the time ended, without him making any move. However, just after that, I saw that I had lost on time and he had a full 2 minutes remaining. Lichess even threatened to ban my account if I let the time run out instead of resigning. This is preposterous!

Most probably you got disconnected.. the coincidence with the takeback is strange,ok. I had it some times that I played, opponent's clock ran on my virtual board, but on the internet, my move had never happened.
Which was the move they requested a takeback for? Was their last move 15.. Bd7 a move you saw on the screen? If you never saw it you probably got disconnected right after granting the takeback. You had 1:56 and saw their 2:17 go down to zero. In the game stats you find they took 17seconds and you took 1:56 for not moving.
Letting time run warning is automated, here, mockingly/sadly.
If your opponent starts thinking in a blitz game, check your connection, you might be able to go back online in time!
