Lichess shield

At school during sporting events etc we had the opportunity to win personal trophies but also shields. Shields were something that were won and held until the next event where you gave it back and it was awarded to the next winner but you got your name engraved on it. Something like this.

My suggestion is to do a monthly lichess shield tournament for different rating groups. The shields would be shown on the winners profile for a month until it was passed to the next winner and clicking on it would show a list of all previous winners. For some of us getting a top 100 trophy just isn't possible but this could be a nice thing everyone could aim for as there would be different rating groups and would contain a sense of history as it would show all previous winners when clicked on and the dates they won it.

Slight variation on this nice idea:

Not just an arena tournament, but an elimination one (or swiss).
The winner is granted the right to play a match of several games against the shield bearer. Names are only "engraved" if you manage to win the shield and succesfully defend it once.

The most valuable and unique "king of Lichess" shield could feature a match of games with different time controls and different variants.

Do we get physical shields or just the badge? I could use a shield like that from time to time

I was just looking under the hood on GitHub, and I saw that this had been finished! When will this be implemented?

Not that I am likely to ever possess one of these shields :(
