Knight & Bishop Mate too complicated for Stockfish?

I trying to get the grip on the "Knight & Bishop Mate" and in that course it seemed to me that stockfish has some problems with it.
In one match against stockfish 8 (pPfj20Z9) the analysis board the shows an an advantage of 80 points for me after stockfishs move (no. 7) and that and and advantage of only 2.5 if I had chosen the perfect next move (which I didnt).
In the next game - with him having Bishop and Knight - he couldnt checkmate me (iiyf8lya). A player rated around 3000 should be able to checkmate anybod, right?
Thank You!
Hm, perhaps the rating of AI level 8 is incorrect then.
The engine needs to prune a few sectors off the chessboard. Then it might be able to calculate quickly.
Thank You for Your answer, but I ́m afraid I don ́t know what it means exactly... From what I understand Stockfish 8 should have the strength of a Supergrandmaster, who should be able to checkmate anybody (let alone a patzer like me) within 50 moves with the given material, no matter how the exact positions of the pieces are. So somethings off - or in which part am I mistaken?
Two things I think are true, but don't know for certain:

- What is called Stockfish Level 8 on Lichess is not actually as strong as Stockfish can possibly be, by a longshot.
- The ratings we see next to each Stockfish level are assigned somewhat arbitrarily and are not reflective of the bot's performance, but rather an approximate estimate of the different levels' strengths relative to each other.
Thanks. Yes i read, that the real Stockfish has almost 4000 ELO, which would translate in savely over 4000 on Lichess. Nevertheless I think that even if Stockfish 8 played for real only with a strength of 2700 (which would translate, from what I understood, into 2400-2500 ELO) it should still be able to checkmate me...

The problem is the horizon problem
you in real life can't see past the horizon and stockfish can't either,
stockfish in a game can only see so far
which is the horizon and because it can't see past it.
stockfish will never mate you
because it can't find the mate in x+1 because he can only see as far as x
Indeed, and it's not even a matter of having to re-code Stockfish, it's simply that AI level 8 is capped at 11 moves or something like that because in most positions an unlimited strength opponent isn't fun to play against.
I understand zero about programming (if that ́s even the right word here) but shouldn ́t it be the case, that if somebody had "told" Stockfish 8 that, should it ever be the case that he still has Knight and Bishop etc... it is necessary to capture the opponing King in the first triangle of one corner of the same colour as his bishop and than the second and so on, he should checkmate me even with "only" the ability to "think" elevn moves ahead?
The problem with that is that 99.999999999999999999999%+ of chess positions aren't K+B+N versus K, and Stockfish isn't coded to handle this specific use case (where it lacks access to syzygybases and is capped at 11 moves).
