As soon as I just open site, CPU load immediately raises to 50%.

Chrome task manager show exactly main page tab 50%. Other sites don't show any CPU overload. Other pages on lichess (forum) don't show too.
It's not, problem is local, I'd bet on VMware.
I don't use VMware and the front page is notoriously heavy/laggy (I.e. I may get issues such as skipping videos in other tabs when I am on the front page). As soon as it goes away from the front page, everything speeds up though. My guess would be something about the game search lobby?

I'd like to introduce you to Firefox. Chrome is excellent but needs too many resources, while Firefox does the same for less.

Indeed that was a Chrome bug, and Firefox wasn't affected.
