Is it cheater paranoia on Lichess.org?

Lichess detected cheat in game of my student after only 8 moves? Why? It is absurdity.



I mean, Lichess need improve his detect algorithm

Hello, @Butafor , your student must have open lichess analysis board with the same position in an other tab while playing the game ( either intentionally or accidentally) . Lichess automatically detects it and declare the opponent as winner. however, your student will not be affected by this.

also, lichess cheat detection system is perfect and better than anywhere else.

nope. opening the analysis board is not enough. they additionally have to start the engine, which means that it almost certainly was intentionally. nothing accidental about opening the analysis board with the same position *and* starting the engine. how many mouseslips would that be?

@glbert , since its only the opening , the person might have also used the opening explorer before the game and later played the same exact opening in a game in another tab.. it might also be accidental.

well, they would still have to go to the other tab. just having a tab open in the background does nothing. going to a tab that you know has the engine on and the position of your game – that's hardly accidental, wouldn't you agree?

@glbert i wouldn't agree if it was between the middle game , but most people practice the opening and often try to byheart the lines using an engine , so maybe...

Never open the analysis board during a chess game..

most people practice the opening. but most people don't switch to a tab where they practiced the opening *during* a game. because that would be cheating.

Maybe they need to improve but It's very unlikely that a 1200 finds 4...g6 and 6...c5, not the most obvious moves.

4.d3 is very unusual and normally you don't play g6 in the Qa5 Scandinavian at all. very suspicious...
