Has there been any update concerning the algorithm looking for players leaving games?

Hello everyone,

I have sometimes some issues with internet which come at random and in those case I can be disconnected during 30 seconds or 1 minute. I have played many blitz games like this that I could finish once my connection was restored. But tonight it seems that the system automatically considers that I am leaving the game. Has there been any change?

One example here in case you need one to answer my question.

"Claim Victory" always requires the opponent to click the button.
Do you mean that all my oponents usually get this option and do not use it? And tonight all of them have done it?
That I do not know; just that the system doesn't automatically claim it. I'm not aware of any code recently changing related to this.
I want to come back to this topic. I would like to know what the rule exactly is about the disconnections? And is it possible to modify it and allow for more time? My disconnections are unpredicatble but most of the time they are short, between 30 seconds and two minutes, one minute on average. If I play a bullet game with increment, I can still fight for the win despite the disconnection. But only if the website allows me to come back and finish the game.
Rule is that if you have connection problems it's rude to pretend that your opponent shiuld bear the consequences. Just don't start playing if your connection is unstable. If you do, accept the consequences.
@MarkIorio In this case I should never play since I don't know when the problems will happen. I think I am the one bearing the consequences since it is not my fault and if I am totally winning on the board, I still lose the game and on top of that receive a warning saying that I should have resigned if I do not want to be banned. I assume you can understand that if I could fix the connection problem, I would not have started this discussion.
The disconnect timeout is 40 seconds in blitz and faster, 80 in rapid, 120 in classical. It's divided by 3 if you're down a lot of material (even if it's just your opponent initiating a rook trade with his last move). If your disconnection/ragequit history looks bad (you do it more often when down a lot of material than up a lot of material), it can be decreased further, but it'll always be at least 10 seconds.

If the game started from a direct challenge ("Play with friend"), I believe neither player will be able to claim victory no matter how long their opponent stays disconnected.
I would advise you to play longer games. The system right now works very well and needs no modification IMO.
