Friends List

It's only temporary, I think most people will do fine. However, I think lichess should consider the fact that there's a good possibility that this current crisis can become even worse around the world, and that the numbers of visitors/users can go well above 100 000 over the coming months.
If someone needs it that bad, they can still see their friends they follow at Lichess / @ / "Your User Name" / following
Go to your profile and then under your name on the left, you should see Followers.
Click on it and then on the right you will see something like: 87 followers & 47 following
Click on following.
Then save the tab somewhere on your browser.

If the friends list was added like the bots list, would it be less demanding on the server?

It's a very important tool!
As my Friends here and the Team I'm became a second Family it's really hard without the FriendsList - It feels like being super alone. No way to find the friends online, where they are playing or contact them fast if we do a tournament.
The Friends List is a very important tool! I'm sure Thibault knows that and knows what he is doing - but pleeeease, bring my friends back as soon as possible 😘
ps. Thanks @Toscani - that works a little bit at the mean time what you said at #25
I can understand the problem and urgency due to a probable increase of the numbers due to the coronavirus quarantine. However you should at least warn people in the main page when something like this happens... When you enter the site and something has changed without explanation the side effects are way worst.
Anyway hope everything goes back to normal soon.
Stay safe.
Social distancing has finally hit lichess.
Real talk though, this thread or a notification should be stickied. Thanks thibault & devs for the great site <3
@thibault
While you're at it could you please disable all the notifications about friends joining tournaments or following someone or posting. Just because I have someone on my friends list doesn't mean I want to be bloated with every detail of their lichess life.

Hey, um. I kind of like those features. I've found interesting players, and posts, that way.
