Feature request: Text formatting in the forums

For example using BBCode. It'd be great to be able to emphasize a word or phrase without having to shout.

Just so I don''t look stupid because this already exists and is just not used... [bold]This is bold[/bold] or maybe <b>This is bold</b>.
It would be much more effective to use Markdown. But yes, I would like this feature too.
I wish we had markdown. We could use code fences too and all kinds of easy syntax. BBCode is old and the code (<b></b>) is far less readable than markdown.

I use Katex with VS Code, and can just upload snippets to gitlab because that's what they use. Katex is much faster than mathjax (most popular/prevalent) markdown.

lol I'm old, that's why I suggested BBCode. It's just what I'm used to. I'd be interested in markdown or any kind of new markup language like it for that matter. I think that even plain old HTML would be just fine - anything.
