When you edit your comment, all the positive reactions are reset, and the negative ones are kept back.
I think the likes are removed because you could say like Lichess is great!!! or something like that and then everybody is liking the post but then you decide to edit the post and say Lichess is bad!!! or something like that so then all the likes are removed
This is because someone could do something like what @bloopy1 said.
You could at first say something useful such as in a game analysis thread, "I think 9. Nf3 was better than 9. O-O-O" and then you might get a decent amount of likes.
But then you edit it, and you say "Like this post if you are a moron!"
So that is why the likes are removed.
