I am playing a normal game. I didn't resign or run the clock but suddenly lichess gives timeout for 6 hours. This is happening recently very frequently.
Temporary playbans are for stalling, rage quitting and aborting games. Duration of the ban increases with each new infraction and the threshold is lowered. So even a single aborted game can be it.
Just don't do any of the above mentioned things and you won't receive these timeouts.

I am posting this for my kid who was playing in front of me, he didn't do any of these you mentioned. He did quit earlier may be a month back but nothing else. I had to disable chat for him as some people post rude messages otherwise nothing he did wrong.

Last game there was aborted 2 hours ago.
Another one 12 hours ago. One more 23 hours ago.
When this stuff (stalling on time, leaving games, rage quitting, aborting too frequently) is repeating, the timeout is going to be longer and will be triggered more easily.
6 hours timeout means this isn't the first time this happened and the behaviour continued.

You should also seriously consider enabling lichess.org/account/kid to disable site communications.
Thanks for the details. I checked with my kid, he said other player didn't move at all and he had to abort. But there also might be instances that he might have aborted when he needs to run for something. But I can show your message to help him understand and enable kid mode to disable unnecessary communication. Thanks much again
Each player has 20 seconds to make a first move, so they just need to wait this out when they are playing with the black pieces. If no move is made, the game will be aborted, but a "no show" would be counted for the opponent instead, with all the consequent temporary playbans/timeouts.
