An alternative to "good luck" "have fun"

I've read a lot of threads about wishing your opponent luck before a game. Some believe it's unbecoming to wish someone good luck as it's either insincere (you want to win) or passive aggressive (your opponent will need luck to beat you).

My suggestion is to replace gl or hv. With hs ( *handshake)

In OTB chess rarely are words spoken before a game. I personally would never look an opponent in the eye, shake his hand and say "good luck". It would come across as patronising. Online chess shouldn't be any different.

What do you guys think?

Wow, that's a great idea, online chess has to try being as face to face chess, i prefer a handshake, elegant... pure chess
Well the subtitles in that video are just incorrect. Magnus says " you want a draw?" "No draw for bad French man". Not, "no draw for my friend". This is what sophisticated gentlemen call "trash talk". Even the greats like Nimzowitsch were not immune to this. (“Gegen diesen Idioten muss ich verlieren!”).

Beginning a game with "good luck" or "have fun" just sets the scene for more trash talk.

"handshake" seems more proper and correct.
"Handshake" is a great idea! Simple and polite.
I sometimes played boule in competition.... before the match we shook hands and wished eachother "nice game", nobody thought that that was in any way impolite... and if you think gg after game is insulting, why not have "ig" meaning "interesting game"?
I play as anonymous a lot on my phone and tablet. There are often those players who throw a "You Too!" and "Have Fun!" at the beginning of the game as a way to insult you or make it seem they are trash talking. It's funny when you beat them badly, they always rage quit which makes me giggle.
