In serious tournaments, I want to play in zen mode because then I won't see if my opponent is high rated or not, and panic. But then, if I do turn on zen mode, I will have to adjust my playing style because I usually play differently based on my opponent's rating, which leaves me with an uncomfortable feeling. So should I play with zen or not?
@kevlu8 How can we tell you if you should play with zen mode or not if you are personally uncomfortable? You should follow your own guts and not the opinion of others, since they will have different opinions.
I will just say play your best regardless if zen mode is on or off.
In my opinion it doesn't matter if you know the oponent's rating or not. If he is a cheater you lose anyway. If he is a chess master you lose eventually. If he is playing badly you win. As simple as that.
