I've noticed that in a lot of puzzles where the opponent promotes but then loses the promoted piece right away, the piece promotes to a rook? Why not promote to a queen? I know it doesn't matter since the piece is lost anyway, it just seems strange to me.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

Because he'll lose his pawn for sure and he doesn't like to promote to a queen but a rook looks cool. That's it I guess.

Computer likes to give up as less material as possible even though the pawn is going to be captured but rook has a less value than a queen. Thus its better to lose that promoted pawn as a rook rather than a queen

If we really are using this logic, then why isnt it promoting to a bishop or a knight instead?

Was about to ask the same, it could be because the position was giving a check. We need to recreate the same scenario where the King won't be in check and see

Because there's no check ... just look at the puzzle OP posted.

Wow nice one...i was also thinking maybe just maybe even in the slightest chance if white chooses not to recapture the promoted piece,in that case a rook or a queen (rook here coz we are arguing about a rook or a minor piece) would be better than having a minor piece against a rook

It is so it calculates less lines... I have seen Stockfish promote to a bishop against Komodo, and the commentator said that it did that so it calculates less
