why does Correspondende chess posses such a high status?

*possess
the headline says it all. why does it have an extra tab on the home page and why are engines (usually) accepted?
why do you get a message when the game is over...?
uh, it does NOT posses such a high status --- unless yo're being slightly sarcastic about it having a tab on the home page, and are suggesting it doesn't deserve a tab. on lichess, correspondence is sort of a second class citizen, imho. fewer guys play that here than on other sites. engines are allowed on one of the big correspondence servers, not here, and probably not on most online sites. personally, i like getting a message when the game is over. its a convenience - since correspondence is not in real time, but there are lags of several days, often.
correspondence does not have a high status
few play it
it is the second best time mode imo

I ask myself why does bullet and blitz posses such a high status, those gamemodes cover half of the homepage
Real chess is classical & rapid. Blitz & bullet are for the agile, correspondence is for the scientific.
