why do people resign so soon

i find too many people just resign in a basically even position

others hang on way too long making you mate them

few people resign when they are definitely lost without dragging things out

some resign after a couple of moves. i guess they didnt get the opening they wanted to play. maybe LI should add an option to pick openings you like.

whats with the mindset of chess players anyway ?
"i find too many people just resign in a basically even position"

That literally never happened to me.

"some resign after a couple of moves"

Neither did that. Over what are you actually complaining? Those are free points for you, and it takes seconds to create a new game! :D

Too many people? Hardly ever.
But dragging on till the mate is widespread indeed. In that case my hands are free to create any weird mating combination I want, like these:

Yeah, I saw the case when someone resigns in an even position, even high rated players (2000+)..
And another one you should add xD, is when someone resigns without playing,.. it happened to me three times in tournaments, when I get paired to some 1200 players or so, see them resigning in the first move lol, that was strange ..
Personally, I play until the opponent has a big advantage and especially an easy play, when the position is really clear, you can't do anything..
statistically speaking (personal experience), most people keep playing until they find themselves in a lost position, but there are always capricious players whose only purpose in life is to drive you crazy and remain 10 minutes without making a single move.
Most of the time, players don't see what's actually on the board, and think that they are in a losing position. Miscalculations or loss of hope might be reasons.

Well, in my opinion, many give up on the fact that they simply do not know what to do in non-standard situations. Well, here's to take for example one of the recently played by me parties (even today). Well, what kind of person will play this option? Well, just me. The opponent is expecting a variation of Short, exchange variation, a variant of Tal and so on. A person, having an advantage, simply did not know how to implement it. Because I'm used to hoping for a standard option. As a result, there are mistakes and, as a rule, different nonsense. Кратко и по-русски: начинается лапша! Ну и чтобы не быть голословной:
I often give up because I have no idea of what to do next. Then I will go to the analysis board and the engine tells me I have an advantage? No point having an advantage if you cannot see it. It's quite depressing really.
