Why do people play this terrible opening???

The Bowdler attack. A VERY questionable opening for white that simply allows black to dominate the center and control the e file. I have some good examples of this opening completely failing white from my own games.

For some reason the game embedding doesn't seem to be working. Anyone know how to fix this?
The embedding seems to be working fine, all you have to do is click on the link and the game shows up.

As for your original question, the three games you presented seem to have been played against lower rated players, so I would guess that they just aren't familiar with the Sicilian yet.

The resulting position doesn't look like it's outright lost, though. It seems playable, although probably not ideal.
Bowlder attack is a beast of an opening. Don't overlook it young blood.
@carminder have you ran it through an engine? What does the engine say? Is it a good or bad opening according to the engine?
@carminder What engine did you run the opening through on? I can tell by your rating that you know your stuff. Will the engine show you the intense tactical play needed?
Bc4 is questionable in every opening when it allows black to play d5 with tempo. When it prevents d5 – which is not the case here but for example in the dragon main line – then it can be a good move.
