Where is my 2500 puzzle rating?!

Show our puzzle ratings! Make chess puzzles great again!

A cup of tea, some snacks, a pipe smoke, the news or political podcast playing in the background ....
And you sit, no time pressure, no tilting, you are just calm, using your brain to analyze the position, those move combinations, epic sac tactics, and you see it, you see the right combination of moves, after 10 or even 20 minutes, you are 90% sure, ok, let's do it, oh great, the first move is correct, ok the second one, nice! now let's re-analyze the rest again, ok, let's finish it, and you make the rest of the moves right, and you are so glad!
It was really a hard one! but you did it! feels great ....

But then, one day, you figure out that your 2500+ puzzle rating looks like a "?" to other people, without even a number before the "?" ...
You are wondering what the h!? why?

You search, and you find out (including in Lichess forum) that there is some kind of a "threshold" with the number 2500, and that some geniuses decided that you must have a 1800 classic rating in order to show your 2500+ in puzzles!
with some people also suggesting that there must be cheating/farming in puzzles .... which is frustrating and annoying to be honest, especially if this is the real reason puzzle rating doesn't show ....
I saw comments for other people finding out the same thing about their ratings ...

Why can't some people understand the huge difference between playing a normal chess game and solving a puzzle?!

I used to be 2600 in puzzles before, they are hard, very hard, and it's a real mental effort to solve those (at least for me), but that doesn't mean that you should expect a certain classical or rapid rating from a 2500 puzzle-solver! (in my opinion)

Why do I have to have a 1800 rating (others say it's 2000) in order for my 2500 puzzle rating to be "reliable"??

In normal games I get tilted easily, then I blunder a pawn, which makes me mad, so I blunder a whole piece (please not the queen this time!), then I get even more mad, and then I play a game while on a high tilt, and I resign the next game just because I pre-moved a pawn but my opponent played something else which made my pre-moved move bad! oh look, I resigned on the 4th moved! oh wait, there is so called "sandbagging" and now people might think that I resigned to help my opponent! so I should stop doing this as well, I'm so angry right now, so let's play more rated games and throw away 100 rating in one day ...

That's how my games go! not to mention having almost a heart attack before even starting a rated game, because I'm so emotionally attached to the numbers, and afraid to lose and I don't know how to fix this ...

Yes, you can still tilt in puzzles (happened few times), but there is no time pressure, and you can always stop at any move if you are not sure about the next correct one

So YES; it's possible to be able to solve 2500 puzzles while not being able to get 1800 rating ....
Man, I got to 1600 in rapid and stopped playing rated rapid games, just because I'm afraid of losing it, and feels like it will be impossible for me to get to again! so what 1800? lol

Also I would like to say that: playing a rated game against a 1300 feels the same as (if not harder than) a casual game against a 1700, within the same time control ....
I know it sounds crazy, but it's true.
Due to psychology: tilt/worrying/being afraid of losing those for-some-reason-very-important rating points!

If it is really expected from a 2500 puzzle "solver" to be able to play at a 1800 level, then I simply suck at chess.

Thank you for reading this boring story, I'm glad to practice my English while talking about chess stuff.

Have a nice day!
You claim you're underrated in your profile, the practical solution would be to prove it by playing rated games and win against higher opponents, consequently earning the puzzles rating showcase as well.

On a side note I don't understand why your puzzle streak record is so low if you're truly rated above 2500.
Ratings.
You can't live with them, you can't live without them...

(Hey, I just enjoy finding the CAPTCHA checkmates! I like the ones with a bishop and queen battery where the enemy king is smothered, and you can checkmate with either the bishop or the queen. In those cases, I always checkmate with the bishop. Call me crazy...)

I was 2600+ in puzzles before
You are right about my puzzle streak, I played only 23, and treated it as puzzle storm for some reason! I remember moving too fast, although it said has no time, and they "felt" somehow different from the regular puzzles, but I know I can score much higher (will take long time though, since I sometimes spend 15 minutes on a single 2500+ puzzle!)

But actually, you reminded me of it, I'm going to do more puzzle streaks

By underrated I think it's maximum +200 points, so yeah, just touching the 1800 I guess, and you are right, logically, but it's hard to explain how scary it is to play rated games, I play against 1700s in casual better than agains 1300s in rated (sounds crazy I know, and I can't prove it either, but it is what it is!)
From personal experience, the more you play the less you care about ratings. Try it.
It is indeed ridiculous but you can still see your puzzle rating and anyone interested in it can still find it easily by hovering the mouse pointer over the graph. So yes, it is annoying but it's something I can live with.

Ok, I just have to add that I just figured out for the first bldy time that I can stop at any time and continue the streak later whenever I want and that I don't have to sit and do them all worrying that I should remember to keep this browser page opened!
And I also learned, that "skip" means skipping a move, and not skipping the streak and start a new one!

So, even though I feel stupid for not knowing this before, It make life much easier, so thank you for mentioning the puzzle streak!
