When you give mate but still don't know it's already mate.

Also didn't know this was mate when I played it.

That's nice @Irishman964, it's always nice when there's pawns involved on either side.

Mate, obviously. Still, I was somewhat surprised.

What i have noticed is that quite often it's bishop which either delivers the "unexcepted" check or blocks the king. At least for me that's often the case. It's many times so far away you almost forget it's there, waiting to fullfill it's destiny : ).

I had a bad blunder, but my opponent missed it and then the …"oh that's mate" It enforces the wood pushers rule... that you should always check...It may be mate :]
