What is your favorite piece?

What is your favorite piece? Mine is the knight. I love how it can jump over pieces and do smothered mate.
Bishops are the most reliably fun and feel like the stalwarts of the game.

Defensively:
1. You're likely to use them for protection, as they are lower value and often at hand for contingencies. The bishop is dependable!
2. By contrast, the knight can be inflexible and the rook doesn't get much play until you reach the endgame, so they're not as fun. The queen is cool but also a source of TILT and the king is a source of STRESS. Pawns are forgettable.

Offensively:
1. It's slightly easier to slide between diagonals than straight lines due to the way pawns form up, so they have that over the rook piece.
2. Your opponent is usually looking out for the knights in terms of tricky movers
3. Linked to #2, the mind can't easily pattern-match diagonal movement on a square board. It's a great way to surprise your opponent in blitz. 😄

I rest my case.
