What is your chess age?

It takes a chess age of 10 years to become a grandmaster in chess. The chess age of full-time chess players is simply the amount of time they have been playing.
However the chess age of part-time chess players, as determined by a certain basis of part-time education
( as we see in BSc (Honours) Mathematics from Open University, UK:
Part-time study – 6–7 years
Full-time study – 3–4 years )
is: Time Spent Playing/2
By that kind of logic, online chess players which only saw a decent increase in 2010 (see note) when chess.com and lichess.org started, will reach a chess age of 10 years in 2030.
So fingers crossed!

P.S.: I started playing chess online in 2013 and it is 2023 now. My chess age is therefore 2023-2013/2 = 5 years. Waiting for 2033!

Note: In 2005, there were about 30k Internet Chess Club (ICC) members; and it was a paid membership.

My chess age is approachng 60 years (I was taught the moves when I was 5). And I ́m sure there are 5 year olds around who would beat me every time. It ́s a great game!

1 year. Not doing too bad. Sometimes I play like crap but then again I have won a few blitz tournaments in the under 1300s arenas on here.

I was given a chess set for my 7th birthday, a little over 60 years ago. But given that no one I knew played, the set pretty much stayed new for several years. I rediscovered the game when I went to high school, and I quickly fell in love with it. That was over half a century ago, and I'm still in love. And still not even close to mastery.
