Too Nice To Be True. I Know.

I myself really thought of following GM Magnus Carlsen here on this website, but it does not make any sense for me; with all the other great players, I think that I would have zero chance. As I started playing chess on Lichess, a couple of years ago, I used to play a 5 min. quick game, as anonymous, 'just for fun', that time the chat was still functioning using the Lichess App: I don't know since the new update this is not anymore possible; I would have to login if I wanted to message someone on the application. Anyway, I once had a game that was very remarkable with another anonymous player. He was a very strong opponent, he was like marching through the board and taking my pieces one after the other. Of course, as a beginniner I had not the slightest of chance, so I lost the game; but he sent me an invitation for a rematch! And I have this habit to then send the opponent a short message  thanking them for the invitation. I always take it for very friendly.
He replied, ' You're welcome'. And we continued chatting through out the second game. He then asked for my name: he was very nice, so why not ... I gave him my real name. We only played two quick games but it was very worthwhile because he was such a pleasant person.
He first said that his name was Carlsen,  and then  he quickly changed it to Magnus. He said that he was the recent Grandmaster at chess and that he was from Norway. I was so dumb that time that I didn't know any Grandmaster, or any famous chess player. I could not believe what he just told me. Short after the game, I went to google search for the  name of any Grandmaster who supposed to be from Norway who's name is either Carlsen or Magnus. It did not take me that very long, indeed his name poped up ... he only gave me his name the other way round:  I was like, 'This can't be true!"
I only thought about this again as I learned from other players that he has now an official account on this website. Who knows maybe he's really playing on here and you already played him as anonymous.
Who ever the person was, that I played two years ago, he was mind blowing. And if it was really the Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen - hey, I'm a very big fan. Thank you for the games, eventhough you crushed me twice. I wish you more success. Stay just the way you are.
@theParableJunction I'm glad you had a positive experience playing on Lichess. Whether that was the real Magnus Carlsen or not, I think you'll find that the community here is a good one. We're happy to have you :)
