Super Hard Puzzle-y Question

I made a puzzle!!! [The puzzle is not super hard, but now I have an excuse to acronym this 'N'.]
You are a robot....
An official looking person moves pieces around. Hey, that's chess! You look at the interesting moves.

Suddenly, the evil humans have limited your ability to see the board.
They want you to play -blindfold. Uh-oh.

Every piece has been replaced by a black square:
1 ■■■■■■■■
2 ■■■■■■■■
7 ■■■■■■■■
8 ■■■■ ■■■

'That doesn't seem like a real chess position. Where is my king?' you ask.
It turns out the king is in one of the bottom corners - either the bottom left, or the bottom right.

How is this position legal?
