Something's that helped improve my chess recently

Read this carefully.

I have been thinking of a certain method and I have used it successfully on myself. This has worked very efficiently for me, and has improved my chess. It's very surprising, why and how, I have literally no idea. Perhaps some big brains out there can explain the chess or science behind the method!?

What is the method?

Whenever you encounter any chess position on the board, question yourself:
CAN THIS SAME POSITION BE ACHEIVED BY A LESSER NUMBER OF MOVES?
This may include even the weirdest and dumbest combination of moves, even if it involves a Queen giveaway.
By constantly asking yourself this question, you will tend to play better and more aggressively.

For example, look at this position from Lothar-Smyslov, 1986

This can also be achieved in 4 moves 1. d4 d5 2. e3 g6 3. Nf3 Bg7 4. Be2 Nf6.

YOU ARE SAVING YOURSELF HALF A MOVE. I repeat,
YOU ARE SAVING YOURSELF HALF A MOVE.

This methodology surely works and is no coincidence. perhaps a theory is that you will not make too many unnecessary moves.

SOMETHING TO PONDER UPON...
#1 it's kinda dumb because it takes too long to follow the steps (my new opinion)
What are you even trying to say? @vizwen1
You are wanting to improve at chess without any effort?! No wonder your account is restricted. I suspect engine use...
