Hi,
the English (1. c4) is relatively uncommon, at least in my experiences, but whenever I face it I've always had problems against it. It usually results in a positional and closed game, and I much prefer something relatively open and sharp. While I've found that against 1. d4 (Benko) against 1. c4 I always get into a really closed and positional game. I've heard 'Just play whatever you play against d4, c4 usually transposes' but white usually stays in the English with moves like g3, d3, e3, Bg2, Nf3 etc, resulting in a really positional game. Any recommendations on how to play against the English and make it a more sharp and tactical game? Thanks
