Providing an OPTION to limit the time for each play

Why don't we provide an OPTION to limit the time for each play. If you are playing for 30 minutes or more and the other player abandon the game, you don't have to wait until the end of the game. You use the OPTION only if you WANT.
But 30 minutes is the total time for the other player, and they can decide how they want to use that time. If you think it's really annoying it's actually your problem you wanted to play such a long game anyway, so your opponent can (rudely) let their time run down. It's not against the rules to do so.
@Berettatiger

agreed

even if you have 30 minutes for the game = SD30
there should be a one minute maximum on any given move

and for a 10minSD game
the maximum for a given move should be say 20-30 seconds

and for others it may be a bit more complicated
but for a 5minSD + d5 the max per move could be 15-20 seconds

Though in time controls where you have a few hours it's not fair if you don't get to use 30 minutes to move in a very tough position.
if they are sitting at the board across the table i would agree

but online when they could have gone to watch tv then i disagree

i think that maximum times on moves makes the games more interesting and fairer

the max/move could be more than the average for the game but should not be anywhere near all the time on the clock
Though I'd say it's fair for a player to use 99% of their time on their second move. Not like it takes away my time.
During longer games I sometimes have to get away from the computer for a couple of minutes, just to go to the bathroom if for no other reason. So I definitely would not play a game that limits my time per move.

They had such rule on the german Schacharena.de. Used to be a max of five minutes per move, if I remember correctly. Maybe they still have it, I don't know. Haven't played there in ages. Probably the worst of all chess websites I ever tried.
If two people agree, then anything is possible ... ;)

What if the player is calculating something? A long think?
I'm stunned that not only this idea got proposed, but even more so that anyone agreed with it.

Sigh.
