XDDDD
Definitely not too harsh!
Its a personal choice of course, but know that no takebacks is the norm and I think most of us have the option turned off for ranked games. I see very few people (if any) asking or granting them, even for mouse slips - which is subjective.
There is nothing wrong with your settings. Your opponent blundered and decided to resign - well done!

The frequency of these offers have to do with our(OP and me are 1200+) level right? At which level would you say most users accept and treat this as the norm?
After turning off the option the number of players who abort games with me has increased. It's not a very annoying incovenience but there are those who start playing without checking that out and thus not aborting, who later start spamming chat or send a series of draw offers... It's them that are a bit annoying.

I have the option turned off for ranked games. For casual games, every time I've accepted a request for a takeback they follow up with an even worse blunder within the next 10 moves. I only allow one take back.
If someone is so worried about ruining their games from misclicks, they can turn on the option to always confirm the move. This is what I do when I play on mobile.

I can't really say.. it should be the norm at all levels as these are the FIDE rules (for good reason) and this is how people learn to play chess in "real life". We are not violating any other rules of chess here so why this one? There is always the option to play unrated games.
I'm sorry to hear that you guys are being exposed to some emotional black-mail. Just ignore and let the board do the talking :)
Also: Spamming, repeated offers, leaving you hanging or other foul behavior is something you can report to the moderators and they DO take action.
Have fun!

@YaWannaPieceOfMe
Yeah, that's exactly what I did ;-)
Champion of scrubs, I'm genuinely better then ANYBODY who I can find that happens to play worse then I do.
I also win races against slower runners.

@louras
In the opponents defence they didn't let the clock run. I've had them do that out if sheer spite before and I admit I report them for it.
Clock running just because you playedmthe botez gambit is the sign of a bad loser. That is one of the worst things that players around my range do.

@KoThTer
I've had a few aborted games recently actually. Hope it's not because of the choice not to accept take backs. Ifnit is then so be it, I don't want to play against them if that's the case.
The worst thing is when they refuse to move and I have to waith 10+mins to get the win. That's infuriating and I have to put a conscious effort into not messaging them with a few choice words.
It's only a game but the bad sports running the clocks and not resigning need to be warned imo. It's just sad, I would be embarked.
I have took longer to move before though, when someone literally said "hurry up and move", that just made me take ages to move and use my time extra, extra cautiously. "You can play blitz, you chose the time control" was the response to their demand.

@GiGGidi no you are not being too harsh. Disable takebacks and that's it. If people send you draw offers in a losing position for them decline. Only enable takebacks when playing against stockfish because it isn't human. If their mouse slipped it isn't your fault. If you are prone to a lot of mouse slips turn on move conf and that's it.
