Looking for a black repertoire

Hello everyone,

I'm studying chess seriously for few months and I'm still working on my repertoire as black. I decided to play 1.c6 against 1.e4 to avoid all the Sicilian theory for now (maybe I will come to the Sicilian later). But I don't know what to play against 1.d4.

At the beginning, I decided to play the King's Indian Defense because it was a nice way to meet not always d4 but also others first move and also because I've seen numerous games by Fischer, Kasparov and was fascinated by the opening. However, my opponent often deviate from theory so I've got to plan by myself very soon and general and I have trouble with that. So I'm thinking about trying lines like ragozine/nimzo-indian against 1.d4. I don't think I will be confident with 1.d5. I also thought about the Old Benoni with c5 directly.

That's the reason why I'm asking to your help. I don't really know yet what kind of player am I. I think I am more dynamic than static but that's all. I like to attack a lot but I also enjoy when I reach equal endgame where technique can be the difference (I'm still working on my endgame abilities though.. ^^).

My white repertoire if it can help you to give me advice: Scotch Four Knights, Smith-Morra Gambit, King's Indian Defence, King's Gambit, Botvinnik System.

Thank you all for your help
So if you have any advice to chose repertoire...
Especially if you play Caro-Kann against 1.e4, then why don't you just use the same c6-d5 structure against 1.d4? the opening called Slav Defense should be relatively easy for you and is pretty strong actually (I personally like the position more than Caro-Kann).

Most replies will suggest the Slav due to the similar pawn structure.
IMO, the Nimzo-Indian is the best defense, the King's Indian is the most dynamic, and the Tarrasch variation of the QGD is the standard IQP game.

From you white choices, I assume that you like open centers, and the Tarrasch is the most open center. With the IQP, you get attacking formations, but it tends to be weak in the endgame, and even then the majority of games end in draws.
Exactly what #2 said. There is no reason you should deviate from the caro or c6 openings because white platys d4first. It will also put you in lines that you know. 9 out of ten timez white will ususlky respond with e4 after c6.
The Slav is good, the QGD is good, the QGA is good. I have played the Grunfeld for years and love it.
Thank you for your answer! I'm going to check that, the Grunfeld is interesting but I heard there is a very difficult line to deal with for black but I don't know nothing about it but that's the main weapon of Maxime Vachier Lagrave ^^

Thank you :)
