Is Magnus Carlsen back?

I read a lot on blogs and chess sites and realize that many players already retired and other expert saying that Magnus Carlsen is back. That's because his performance at the World Cup last year, and even before the World Cup was not as expected. Today, much is said that he is walking in a much higher performance than 3 years ago. Everything indicates that if he continues like this he will reach a level never seen before. You agree?
Is Magnus Carlsen back? To be honest he never left so I don't know what exactly is your post about.
@moriaki8000 I say in the sense of short term performance. His results in the last competitions have been extraordinary compared to his performance before the world cup.
@moriaki8000 Before the World Cup he had a series of draws with a tournament average rating of 2,633.
In the current days he has been winning with wide advantages of all opponents in tournaments with an average of 2,755.
The performance is a subject of random fluctuations. That's why FIDE ratings change slowly - so that they can represent the long-term level of play, not some lucky tournament where all the opponents blundered. Carlsen haven't beat his own rating record yet, so it's too early to say his level is higher than ever, although it can be argued that the ratings in the top got deflated since the moment Carlsen set up that record. It's hard to compare strength across time, as it's changing for both Carlsen and his opponents, and engine evaluation is not that useful to measure human strength.

Remember also how close was the world championship match, which wasn't that long ago. Carlsen could not beat Caruana in a 12-game match (although he had good chances in the last game, but strategically decided to draw, but still). I don't think that would be such a tie if the level is completely new.
Yes. Magnus is BACK, baby!

...but does he have what it takes to go ALL THE WAY?! can he really prove he is back by becoming the WORLD CHAMPION???

I think he can even go all the way to the World Championship Match and unseat the current world champion... who also happens to be Magnus Carlsen, himself.

I am 100% certain that if Magnus Carlsen, who is now back, faces off against the current World Champion, who is also Magnus Carlsen, that there is a 100% chance that Magnus Carlsen will win the match. some may say it will clearly be a draw, but they do not understand that a series of tiebreakers must be used to eventually decide the winner.

wtf is this thread.

in other news, Donald Trump could become the President of the United States, TOMORROW.
