Is it REALLY cheating?

#1 You need to close your account, and open a new account, registered as a bot. There... you will get the competition you describe in your OP. And... then your human opponents will know they are playing an engine. :]

You said: "I wish to bring up a few genuine thoughts and brainstorms that have occured to me, in hopes of being productive."

*YOU* are the roadblock to that same "productivity" that you speak of.
Simply *REMOVE YOURSELF* and accomplish your goal.

Getting rid of cheating by arguing that "cheating is a legitimate practice", is NOT productive.

You, here, trolling in these forums in order to prove to yourself that you still have the power to waste the time of chess players who can wipe the board with your best of brains, is NOT productive.

Cheaters remind me of a perpetual, impudent, toddler.

If you knew how truly RARE cheaters actually are, you would look in the mirror, spit, and vow to stop behaving like a parasite.

Frankly, I would find it appropriate if someone stamped a tattoo of an upside down king, in the shape of a giant "C", onto your forehead.

Further...

***The idea that online-chess is the only place where you take these kinds of liberties, IS - NOT - PLAUSIBLE.***

People like you keep the roofy market in business.
People like you steal candy from babies.
People like you run from real fights.

People like you are sniveling whiners when it comes to even the smallest of your own interests, while you exonerate yourself as you impose the most rawest of damage on others.

People like you slash random bike tires just to validate that you have the power to affect someone else.

You COULD work hard and get that same validation by effecting a positive influence, but instead you've opted to be a pathetic psychopath instead of a productive one.

People like you should be made an example of, where the features of your thinking can be thoroughly dissuaded from re-occurring in onlookers.

It's my opinion that you should be investigated for crimes against your neighbours, children, co-workers, family, friends, strangers, anyone, anywhere. You should be investigated.

There are many different kinds of people that opt to employ the use of an engine.
You are the kind that feels no shame.

You think that you are the evolution of mankind, but you are actually the lowest form of life on planet earth.

You are the reason that natural disasters, accident, and illness, aren't the only things that people have to fear.
You are an uncivilized nuisance.

*YOU* are the roadblock to that same "productivity" that you speak of.

@Everyone Else

There are exactly 3 things to discuss surrounding the topic of cheating:

1. Despite the echo-chamber, there is almost no cheating in online chess. Somewhere around 1 in 50 people might be cheating, depending on skill level and time control.

2. Nobody has a more thorough anti-cheat community, backed by a more thorough anti-cheat division of well-competent administrators, than Lichess. If you want cheat-free play, lichess.org is the only spot to be. Sometimes they'll ban a cheater before your game is finished, sometimes it takes a few days.

3. If you suspect someone of cheating, report them by clicking on their name and then clicking the hazard sign in the top right of their profile. Select "Cheating" as the reason. Then copy-paste the link to your game into the message area, and the anti-cheat division will look into the matter.

@Onyx_Chess We need to learn to treat each case individually. I don't do any of those, and I share your frustration.

I don't feel any of those things you are saying. You are generalizing behavior patterns you've seen or heard of from the past.

And besides, this post is not about me.
@Onyx_Chess I saw that lichess has put a lot of thought into this site. I especially appreciated it in the last few days. Many things resonated with my own way of thinking, and I was hoping for more civilized responses.

I do genuinely understand your frustration though. I recognize the behaviors you've mentioned. It's puzzling to me how some individuals could be like that. But again, this isn't about me.
Fair play is an essential part of true sportsmanship. Players marked for Cheating shouldn't have a privilege to post on the forum.

I know you don't. People like you are incapable of empathizing with the wake of damage that you leave behind in your myopic and self-centered quest for self-gratification.

All you people do is justify your self-serving harm.

You try to dress it up as though there is any good reason for it besides the fact of a beady-eyed, psychopathic operator, with selfish designs.

I find you to be a heinous and repugnant addition to the lichess community, much less the planet earth.

We already know that, to you, EVERYTHING is 'all about you'.

It's why you're here mistreating people and trying to justify how we should understand and accept your need to behave like a pathetic psychopath.

I see you, and I find you to be a heinous and repugnant addition to the lichess community, much less the planet earth.
@Onyx_Chess Btw, if someone thought they were neosapians, the evolution of mankind, that doesn't necessarily make them a bad or faulty person.. It could be that they just need to get their facts right. We are complex creatures, and each case needs to be treated individually
