How to study? :D

Imma bout to start studying middlegame books and i found this book called "Positional Chess Handbook". This is my first time to read such books so how do you guys maximize the information given in books? Also, it would also be cool if you can recommend me instructive lectures on yt about positional plays, calculation and visualization since I learn better by watching
The best way is to play through the text on a chessboard with chess pieces, or even better two chess boards and chess pieces: a big one and a small pocket size one: one for the main line and one for variations.
I dont have a real chessboard though :( I guess ill do it on a digital one
@Nikkoi: You should really buy a real board. The biggest one you can effort. It’s worth the investment. But this may require some research. Because the quality of even higher priced sets is often poor. If your budget is low a plastic set may be good enough. Available for ~ € 20 or less. If you got a table that is big enough you can buy two. See www.houseofstaunton.com/drawstring-chess-set-combination-single-weighted-regulation-pieces-vinyl-chessboard-drawstring-bag.html. If you are more ambitious be warned: There is no upper limit. I recently bought a Dubrovnik chess set with the same size as the one I mentioned. See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubrovnik_chess_set for details. Not really a bargain. Best regards and have fun.
You should buy a regulation size plastic chess set with matching board, which can be made of vinyl and can be rolled up for storage. The total cost is quite reasonable. Or bust the bank for an expensive wooden set, which can be inexpensive, or cost hundreds of dollars. I prefer standard cheap plastic ones, which is what you'd be using in a real tournament. many prefer slightly heavier weighted plastic sets.. not at all expensive. every set i own, whatever size, is plastic.

if you prefer a smaller set, get that. You can also get portable sets, even ones you can carry in a pocket. Those would generally be for working out games while you're out somewhere, like a library or cafe. I used to often carry mine, along w a chess book in my back pack. personally, i preferred an old style peg set, the size of both my palms held together. fun to study on that -- not to play games on though...kind of small. most guys don't like that.

I highly recommend you get any of these options to go with your book. Otherwise how will you go through the games in it????
